Season Over?

It's likely the 2016 season has come to an end...unless we get some really good weather on a Saturday.

Thanks to all who made it to the field this year....lots of fun!!

Oct. 15

Ten innings of wiffle on a low humidity day kept a few balls from leaving the park. In fact, just one as John of Joanna/John went deep. Other than that the afternoon featured some amazing plays including two 'Willie Mays' style basketball catches by John and a Randy juggle at the wall with his back to the plate...robbing Joanna of extra bases. The visitors got revenge for last weeks loss with the 1-0 win in 10 innings.

Oct. 8 Action

Awesome game under clear blue chilly skies with the temp reaching 50 F.  Lots of wind kept the fielding plays challenging.  Randy has, without a doubt, captured the most humorous fielding award (EVER) as he back peddled from the mound on a towering popup....staggered....got his hands up only to hear the ball 'klunk' off his head and bounce a foot in the air.  I was  hoping it would come my way but as klunks would have it the ball fell safely to the ground for an E1.

In game action the Home team (Randy, John Montri, and me) won a hard fought game in 9 innings (see scoreboard).  A few hanging numbers got propelled with the winds but they were all zero's.

Fun stuff...Thanks to all who made it out...Joanna & John, John Montri, Randy, Kartic.  By the way Kartic's skills are emerging as the Indian born rookie has developed some nasty pitches and was already a very good fielder.  His hitting is a 'work in progress'.

John, of Joanna & John, has amazing stuff and where he gets the speed I'll never know.  I consider a foul ball of him a good at bat.

Of course, the all time leader in all offensive stats belongs to John Montri.  Pretty much your 5 tool player on the wiffle field.  Bottom line is we all have fun.

Sept 24 Results

Great action on the field today as the 5 players represented their own teams.  John was by far the most prolific run producer as he parlayed a huge 10 run first inning into 27 runs after 5.  Great hitting to be sure.

Naresh continues to develop his wiffle skills as the young Indian prospect got in the scoring column and began to harness his pitching skills.  Very nice job!
The most animated of all the HCF players, Kartik (below) did his usual excellent job of pitching and fielding, an amazing fielder is safe to say, but the big surprise was his defensive management skills as he moved outfielders to the infield only to see the ball hit right to those relocated fielders, on more than just a few occasions.

Good job by Randy today as he was a bit hobbled from being stepped on the foot (again!!!) in soccer.  He still managed to put 3 runs on the board.

After getting on ball just to the pitchers mound in the first inning and being retired in order I was happy to see my bat come alive in the second and third inning where I managed to hit a round tripper in each inning.  The second one....okay, I'm just going to call it a majestic one   ha  ha  ha...may have been the longest homer to right field (according to field historian John Montri).  It was fun

Also, pictured in the center of the above photo is one of our 'new' maple trees that are beginning to show some fall color.

The pictures below are compliments of Claire Brody's work in the garden this year.  I've really enjoyed seeing the flowers every time I take a walk to the field.

The butterfly art work next to the butterfly bush...in bloom and looking nice.
